About the Team
The mortality rate for craniotomy procedures in intracerebral hemorrhage is as high as 36-50%, demonstrating the ineffectiveness of current drug or surgical treatment. In order to address this unmet clinical need, we innovated a new medical device that combines numerous tasks essential in removing intracerebral hemorrhages. Our device improves upon current surgical procedures for spontaneous cerebral hemorrhage, and being operation-friendly for physicians, can increase survival and recovery.
Completed prototype design, production and functional testing. In a porcine model, demonstrated effectiveness to clear intracerebral hemorrhage by 70%, and through medical imagining demonstrated minimal disturbance to brain tissue, reducing operation-induced brain damage.
