Overview
- Some 1% of the world population suffers from epilepsy. About 30% of them, however, cannot expect relief by taking drugs or undergoing brain tissue removal surgery.
- This has in turn inspired an implantable device for epilepsy therapy featuring precise detection and closed-loop therapeutic efficacy.
- Epilepsy symptoms can be detected in a short period of time thanks to detection and computation conducted on a real-time basis.
- Bipolar, precise electrical stimuli deliver greater therapeutic efficacy.
Development Process
Over the course of this project under the Applied Research Incubation Program, the team completed prototype production and certification, product specifications, functionality assays, and safety and other mandatory tests, as well as preclinical research and planning for clinical trials. After A-Neuron Electronic Corp. was established on June 8, 2016, the team continued to offer assistance in product commercialization.
