Overview

  • Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) causes at least some 10,000 deaths worldwide every day. Statistics show that with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) within three minutes, there is a chance of more than 70% to avoid such deaths.
  • An exceptionally precise AED with electrocardiographic capability.
  • Cost-effective and easy to operate, this disposable device is meant to be included in the home first aid kit.

Development Process

Over the course of this project under the Applied Research Incubation Program, the team completed the following: ECG signal, voice guiding, self-testing, and power management tests among other functionality assays; EMC/EMI testing for IEC-60601 compliance; compatibility, waterproof, dust protection, and impact resistance tests for electrode pads.
