Overview
- In recent years transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been applied to clinical rehabilitation therapy. Nevertheless, its clinical efficacy tends to be hampered by its inability to deliver precise stimulation and allow for performance monitoring.
- The team has drawn on mixed photoelectrode probes and its core competence in circuit design to develop a high definition neuromodulation system that can enhance the upper limb mobility of chronic stroke patients.
- With higher efficacy in a shorter period of time, it promises to prove an effective, safe noninvasive rehabilitation solution.
Development Process
Over the course of this project under the Applied Research Incubation Program, the team completed a prototype and conducted functionality assays and tests for IEC60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-2-10 compliance. Academic clinical research and preparations for a pre-submission to the FDA are now under way. On June 24, 2021, Empower Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. was established.
